Wellness in Africa is not restricted to the body. In fact, for most Africans, "ideal wellness" considers emotional, spiritual, and communal health and healing. This thinking has brought Africans not only into hospital spaces but also into healing shrines and prayer houses. This "Medical Pluralism"⁠—a variety of healing experiences⁠—provides space for Western medicine and other traditions to both be valid.
